Schengen European Museum: Archello Awards 2025

The Schengen European Museum in Luxembourg has received further international recognition. The Archello Awards have named the venue ‘Cultural Interior of the Year’ in the public vote category, cementing the reputation of a museum that has become a cultural landmark since its reopening.

The museum was opened in June 2025 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement, in the presence of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg and numerous European dignitaries. The exhibition and multimedia design project is the work of the Migliore+Servetto studio, in collaboration with Karmachina, and offers an immersive journey through the evolution of the concept of borders in Europe via 19 installations that combine physical and digital elements.

A technical project worthy of a European milestone

The result is a museum space that is demanding in terms of its execution: materials, interactive mechanisms and scenographic elements that had to reflect both the symbolic significance of the project and the technical standards required of a leading European museum. The recognition from the Archello Awards highlights precisely this combination of an ambitious exhibition concept and an execution capable of sustaining it over time.

The role of Proasur at the European Schengen Museum

Proasur has been involved in this project as a technical partner, overseeing the technical development, production and installation of the exhibits, as well as the refurbishment and adaptation of the Princesse Marie-Astrid II, the original venue for the signing of the Agreement in 1985 and now incorporated into the museum tour as another element of the exhibition narrative.

For Proasur, participating in a project of this nature reinforces its position as a trusted technical partner in international museum production, with the capacity to deliver on unique and highly demanding projects, in collaboration with leading design studios.

The Schengen European Museum thus joins a number of other international projects to which Proasur has contributed its expertise in engineering, production and installation, reaffirming a track record spanning more than 35 years dedicated to bringing leading cultural venues in various countries to life through technical expertise.
