FACADE OF OFFICIAL COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTS OF ASTURIAS (COAA)
Textile architecture is an innovative and modern way of designing and building structures that uses textile materials as its primary element. At Proasur, we offer textile architecture solutions for a wide variety of projects.
At Proasur, we developed the textile architecture project for the façade of the Official College of Architects of Asturias (COAA). This involved integrating a textile façade, like a second skin, on the top floor of the building.
To achieve this, we combined a rehabilitated facade with a newly created facade, resolved with a curtain wall, which was covered with micro-perforated textile panels.
In this way, we simultaneously integrate both facades and allow visibility from the inside out. In addition to providing sun protection for the workspace on this floor, the design also offers privacy from the adjacent buildings.
Composed of polygonal panels, the proposed design was placed on the inclined facade plane to form a truncated conical envelope. Its development required a detailed study of the corner intersections between panels on different facades.
The final solution has been a great success for Proasur in achieving a continuous envelope, which was the objective of this architectural project.
