Covadonga Hospital - Room Refurbishment
The Covadonga Hospital offers a renewed vision of its facilities for personalised healthcare based on the concept of comprehensive health.
At Proasur, we have been responsible for the refurbishment of the operating theatre area, the Women's Institute (IDEMU) and the comprehensive refurbishment of the east wing of rooms on the first floor, in collaboration with Verónica Durán, architect and head of the interior design project.
Due to the constraints involved in refurbishing the rooms, the project design had to be adapted to the pace of the work. On occasions, in order to confirm that the plans could be carried out, it was necessary to demolish partition walls or service ducts.
In this latest project, four suite rooms with two separate rooms and premium finishes were also created to offer more space and privacy.
However, without a doubt, the main complexity of this project lay in having to carry out the work while maintaining hospital activity. To this end, coordination with the hospital management was key.
In this regard, the work schedule was designed to coincide with times when patient traffic was lowest. In addition, deadlines were naturally very tight due to the client's requirements and the fact that the hospital was still operating.
On the other hand, the existing facilities were another major constraint, since in certain cases they limited the possibilities of what could be done, which led to quite a few adjustments to the project.
