The project encompassed every aspect of organising institutional events: design, production, venue preparation and coordination of all suppliers. Proasur took charge of the entire event for the annual meeting of Puertos del Estado and the Port Authorities, held at the headquarters of the Avilés Port Authority.
From auditorium to workspace
The meeting took place in the Port Authority’s auditorium, a venue designed for conferences and presentations. On this occasion, however, the format was that of a large working meeting, with a designated seat for representatives from each port around a shared table.
To achieve this, Proasur designed a 241 m² platform that levels out the auditorium’s slope and creates a continuous surface. Sixty-eight workstations were arranged on top of it. The main requirement was uniform stability: the platform had to respond in the same way at every point, whether someone was walking, sitting or moving a chair.
Design and production for the staging of institutional events
Proasur developed the technical specifications for the platform and manufactured it at its joinery and metalwork workshops in Olloniego. The structure combines pine battens and plywood panels.
Prior to dispatch, the team carried out a full pre-assembly in the workshop to check parts, fittings and levels. This method, which Proasur also uses in its museum projects, ensures that the solution arrives at its destination having already been tested, thereby reducing on-site assembly to the implementation phase.
Logistics and assembly
The material was transported by a boom truck and brought into the building via the first floor. The assembly was then completed in a week: a team of six people erected the main structure, after which two people took charge of the finishing work.
Comprehensive coordination of the organisation of institutional events
In addition to the stage, Proasur co-ordinated all the companies involved in the event and maintained direct communication with the client. Furniture, graphics, floral displays and cleaning were all managed through a single point of contact.
This allowed the Port Authority to focus on its role as host, whilst Proasur managed timings, access arrangements and coordination between suppliers. The result was a comfortable and functional meeting room, ready for two days of meetings.
