Cariñena Wine Museum

In the heart of Aragón, the Cariñena Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) represents one of the oldest and most unique wine-growing areas in Spain. With roots dating back to Roman times, the region has been historically renowned for the quality of its wines and for a winemaking tradition that has been able to adapt to the times without losing its essence. The so-called ‘wine of the stones’ - a name that alludes to the stony soils that characterise the territory - is the fruit of a demanding and unique ecosystem, where the vines must struggle to survive, giving rise to grapes of great aromatic intensity and unmistakable flavour. The Cariñena P.D.O., which encompasses 16 municipalities and a great diversity of microclimates and varieties, has established itself as an international benchmark thanks to the excellence of its red, white and rosé wines, as well as the innovation of its wineries and the commitment of its winegrowers.

The recent creation of the Cariñena Wine Museum, carried out by Proasur, has transformed this emblematic space into a museum of wine tourism in Spain. The new museum offers an immersive and sensory experience, integrating advanced technology, immersive scenographies and an accessible and sustainable museography.

On the complexity of the project:

The Cariñena Wine Museum has been both a technical and logistical challenge, as it involved the complete modernisation of a historic building and the integration of state-of-the-art technological systems. The coordination between multidisciplinary teams and the adaptation of the spaces to guarantee universal accessibility were key aspects. Proasur managed the installation of 360º projections, videomapping, holograms and interactive resources, ensuring compatibility with the conservation of the architectural heritage.

Bespoke solution:

Proasur was responsible for the design, technical development and museographic production of customised scenographies, creating unique pieces such as holograms of traditional trades, videomapping on three-dimensional elements and customised exhibition furniture. The company also implemented museographic solutions adapted to the needs of the public, with special attention to accessibility and sensory experience. Each element has been conceived to convey the essence of the Cariñena Designation of Origin and its winemaking tradition, combining creativity and functionality.

The result: Cariñena Wine Museum, much more than a museum:

The Cariñena Wine Museum is an immersive experience that awakens the senses and connects with the soul of this land. Located in a building that breathes history, this space fuses the authenticity of the past with innovative technologies, creating an emotional journey through wine, its people and its legacy.

The result is a modern, didactic and accessible space that positions the Cariñena Wine Museum as an essential destination for wine and culture lovers. The renovation carried out by Proasur has given the museum a contemporary image, integrating the Tourist Office and the headquarters of the Campo de Cariñena Wine Route, and consolidating its role as the region's cultural and tourist driving force.

Visit the new Cariñena Wine Museum and live an unforgettable experience where tradition and modernity merge to celebrate the wine-making richness of Aragón.
