STAGE PRODUCTION
The stage production for the January 2022 Three Kings’ Parade marked the return of the parade to the streets of Madrid following its cancellation the previous year due to the pandemic. Proasur was responsible for the manufacture, transport, installation and assembly of the three floats representing the Three Kings, as well as the set elements that completed the parade, under the artistic direction of Paco Azorín.
The ‘Cabalgata de Reyes’ stage production: three unique floats
Each of the three floats featured an illuminated gilded wrought-iron dome, staircases with LED lighting integrated into each step, and a modular structure comprising large cylindrical sections lacquered in blue, red and green, decorated with gilded borders and hand-painted ornamental calligraphy. Alongside these, Proasur also produced the Great Telescope that led the royal procession: a large-scale scenic piece on wheels, with carved detailing and a gold leaf finish.
Production and logistics for a large-scale temporary installation
The project included a comprehensive service covering transport, installation, assembly, deinstallation and dismantling of all components, coordinated to meet the tight deadlines typical of a street parade. Production took place at Proasur’s workshops in Olloniego (Asturias), combining carpentry, metalwork and decorative finishes to create pieces that could withstand outdoor use without losing the ornamental detail typical of a ceremonial piece.
Pre-assembly and quality control before the fashion show
Before their transfer to the Pabellón de Cristal – the venue chosen for the official presentation of the floats – Proasur carried out a full pre-assembly of each component at its premises, checking fittings, lighting and finishes. This preliminary check ensured that the three floats arrived in Madrid ready for their appearance in the Three Kings’ Parade, directed by Paco Azorín. You can read the official press release from Madrid Destino on this project, which forms part of the range of set designs that Proasur develops for large-scale productions and events.
