"Fuenteovejuna" Scenic Production
The world premiere of Fuenteovejuna (the first contemporary opera based on this classic) created a historic evening for Oviedo.
Proasur accomplished "Fuenteovejuna" Scenic Production. "Fuenteovejuna" is an opera in three acts composed by Jorge Muñiz. It is based on the play of the same name by Lope de Vega, which tells the story of a village that rises up against a tyrannical commander.
This renewed operatic adaptation of Fuenteovejuna was conducted by Santiago Serrate and directed by Miguel del Arco (National Theatre Award 2017) at Teatro Campoamor under the direction of the famous stage director Francisco Azorín.
The scenography takes place on a unique platform in the shape of a book. It is made up of a complex system with eight motors placed on the comb of the stage to give movement to the structure, capable of supporting the weight of the entire opera chorus.
The production of "Fuenteovejuna" was well-received, with the premiere being described as "apotheosical" and the work itself being praised as a significant addition to the Spanish repertoire.
